CD Mastering

Audio mastering is an important process in the final result of your audio music track or spoken word.
The final mix of any recording should not peak for audio volume but be levelled out so not to create clipping which can turn to audio into harsh sounding or mildly distorted track.
All audio levelling and can be done during the mastering process.
When you flatten the peaks with compression or hard limiting and boost the lower instrument sounds, it reduces the punch of the music. The overall sound is louder coming out the speakers or off the disc but the overall sound is flatter; there is no depth to the sounds.
Do not add too much compression as this can be done in the mastering stage
Before I start the mastering process, I listen to the audio through various speaker types to determine the overall dynamics of the track and after discussion with client on what they want from the process >> low, mids or high enhancement >> all depending on the music style.
A grunge band will have different compression and levelling compared to classical, orchestral or pop music.

After careful consideration the mastering process is began.
After the first track is complete we export the track in its full wave form and various MP3 bit rates and once again listen through various speakers and sound systems.
An email MP3 version is sent to the client for consideration and suggestions.

Always listen to your mixes on various sound systems; home stereo, in the car, MP3 player, boom box or computers as every system produces different tones.
Always take a break from listening to your mixes, one day or more to give you fresh ears when you listen to it again.

When booking a mastering session it is best to provide as much information as possible. It is also a good idea to be organised before arriving. Audio files can come straight from a CD-R or HDD. The better organised you are, the quicker the job and the more dollars in your pocket.
Some bands have asked to be mastered to sound like their favourite band but in the end it all comes down to the quality of recording and the final mix.
We can master your audio files one at a time or the whole album at once. We will keep a log of your settings in order to keep track of all your mastering sessions.
Your songs will always sound like they belong together.
Mastering adds the proper kick and punch, warmth and clarity, roundness and smoothness to your sound.
Your tunes will mastered to a level as all the radio songs that you hear from major label releases. All the songs on your demo or album will also be consistent in level with each other.

At CjC Studios we can get into all the high-tech jargon that makes it all sound complicated but in the end it's the mastering engineer that has the "ears" and experience to do the job right.
With over 10 years of studio experience, you are sure to get the job done at the right price and on time.
With our after hours service we can get that audio track mastered and back to you within under an hour.
We have had many clients wishing to email an MP3 song or two to a producer or record lable and have emailed us the song in MP3 format, we've mastered it and emailed back within 30 minutes. Although we do not recommend mastering from MP3 as it's in a lossy format but sometimes sacrifices have to be made and the result is still impressive.

All mastered tracks are accompanied with an emailed or printed full report mastering document.
Our studio uses only the best and latest gear and plug-ins >>
DSP-EQ, DSP-Compressor and DSP-Loudness processors
The DSP-EQ; 100 band graphic natural equalizer.

We understand that it costs a lot of money to get recorded, mastered, CD's printed and distributed.

We at CjC Studios offer the best rate and we support local acts having a go at the struggling industry.
Over the years we have seen many venues close down due to a lack of support for local bands.
MySpace has put a spark back into acts struggling to be heard.
Email me a link to your MySpace page. We'd love to hear your music.
